Hi all,
I'm frantically trying to get a couple of warbands put together for Skulldred...and instead of using the square bases I use for my WFB forces I'd like to use the new rounded lip 30mm round bases. I've even considering using some of the ones with precast "terrain" on them. My question is....should all my figures be based on similar "terrain" or should it be by race or warband specific? Ie. my dwarfs would be on rocky bases...my orcs on blasted wasteland bases and my wood elves on forest path bases....or should they all be on more generic bases for all figures?
Whats your opinion?
Cheers,
Blue

The best thing about Skulldred, the thing that draws me to it more than anything else is. . .it doesn't matter! Purely a matter of preference, style, appearance, etc. I use the "modern" 30mm lipped bases for most of my warbands, finished in a simple old skool grit-painted-dark-green finish, but I also have a couple on old hex bases. I have used scenic bases for a couple models, and I try to make some attempt at a semblance of resemblance to my game board, but really- if you think dwarves belong on rocks and orcs on grass, then paint them that way. Dave's game is absolutely transferable to any line of miniatures, so I would definitely recommend going with whatever you like best. Experiment! Try a few minis with something you've never done before! By the way, if you haven't seen 'em before, Dragonforge Designs makes INCREDIBLE scenic resin bases. I can't recommmend their products highly enough. The ancient ruins set is particularly good for Skulldred minis. . . Best of luck and get painting!

I have units on all sizes of bases. We just use whatever units we want! You will find that once you start a game it does not matter a whole lot. Bigger bases = more gang up. Still working on that one.
